Why will my breaker not stay on?
A breaker may not stay on because of overload, a short circuit, a ground fault, a bad device, damaged wiring, a loose connection, or panel equipment that needs attention.
Should I keep trying to reset the breaker?
No. If it trips again, trips immediately, feels hot, buzzes, or smells burnt, stop using that circuit and schedule electrical troubleshooting.
Can I replace a breaker myself?
Breaker and panel work should be handled by a licensed electrician. Do not remove panel covers, touch panel wiring, or swap breakers as a guess.
What if the breaker feels hot or smells burnt?
Treat heat, burning smell, buzzing, sparks, or smoke as a safety concern. Stop using the affected circuit, call or text Shepherd Electrical, and call 911 first if there is immediate danger.
