Common causes
The breaker is usually reacting to something specific.
- Too many loads on one circuit, especially space heaters, kitchen appliances, garage equipment, HVAC equipment, or tools.
- A damaged appliance, cord, outlet, switch, light fixture, ceiling fan, or exterior device.
- A short circuit or ground fault that makes the breaker trip immediately.
- A weak breaker, loose connection, panel problem, or older circuit that needs repair.
